In 1879 H.J Justin moved from Indiana to Texas and started what would soon become the Justin Boot Company. H.J started out as a boot repairman before starting to make his own boots in his home. H.J Justin began a small trade to the cowboys who traveled through town. The cowboys began to spread the word about their new boots.

H.J's wife Annie Justin was the first in the industry to develop what they called a "Fit Kit', it included a tape measure and instructions on how to measure your foot before ordering your own pair of custom made Boots. The cowboys would carry the kits on their rides, before too long the cowboys became H.J's traveling sales force, spreading the word about these custom fit quality Justin boots.

Within a few years these boots were being sold in more than 26 states and retailed for $11 a pair. The company had grown substantially and so had the population in the city of Fort Worth. The company was soon moved to cash in on the increase works moving to the more populated areas. Over the years the company was passed on from son to son and boots were becoming a fashionable item even for business men. Many a boot was made and the company and it's owners traveled several paths until one sons bought out the entire share of the business and focused on manufacturing traditional cowboy boots again. It was here that the Justin Roper boot was born. To this day, the Roper boots is loved and worn by many a cowboy on the rodeo scene.

100+ years In Business

The Justin Boot Company celebrated it's 100 years of business in 1979. That year the National Sales meeting was held at site in Spanish Fort when the company began 100 years ago. As a celebration of the 100 years in business the company manufactured a special limited edition signature boot. The release of the signature boots seemed to spark great enthusiasm within the company. In 1980, the company began to get heavily involved in the rodeo scene, developing a sports medicine program in conjunction with the National Finals. It was the first of its kind to offer the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association with comprehensive medical services. It was in that year, 1980, that actor John Travolta stared in the movie 'Urban Cowboy'. The movie ignited the western and cowboy styles into mainstream fashion and before long Justin Boots were being purchased by young and old. It had become fashionable to wear cowboy boots even if you were not from the west!

In the year 2000, the Justin Boot company is still going strong manufacturing a range of work boots, cowboy boots and other styles. The Justin Company continues to uphold its commitment to a quality handcrafted product and each boot is individually assessed before leaving the factory.
